Arrive at Paro Airport and proceed to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel, leave your luggage, and take time to relax and refresh.

Later, visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma), offering sweeping views of the Thimphu Valley and home to one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, housing thousands of smaller Buddha images.

Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, built in memory of the Third King of Bhutan and a center of daily spiritual life.

In the evening, explore Tashichho Dzong, an impressive fortress that serves as the seat of Bhutan’s national government and the central monastic body.

Proceed to the picturesque Punakha–Wangdue Valley, crossing the scenic Dochula Pass, adorned with 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens and colorful prayer flags, offering magnificent Himalayan views on clear days.

On arrival, check in at the hotel. Later, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece built at the confluence of two rivers and historically the seat of Bhutan’s government.

Continue with a gentle walk to Chhimi Lhakhang, popularly known as the Temple of Fertility, associated with Lama Drukpa Kunley, the Divine Madman. The remainder of the day is free for leisure amidst the serene valley.

Today, choose between two enriching experiences:

Option 1: Gangtey & Phobjikha Valley

Explore the stunning Gangtey Valley, passing through charming villages, monasteries, and scenic landscapes. Visit Gangtey Goemba, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan.

Continue to the expansive Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley known for its natural beauty and as the winter habitat of the endangered Black-Necked Cranes. Enjoy a walk through the valley before returning to Punakha.

Option 2: Punakha Valley Exploration

Spend the day discovering Punakha at a relaxed pace. Take an easy hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, offering breathtaking views of the Punakha Valley.

Visit the iconic Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan, followed by the serene Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, perched on a ridge overlooking the valleys below. The rest of the day is free for leisure.

Proceed towards Paro, stopping en route at Lamperi to explore the Royal Botanical Park, home to diverse flora, exotic rhododendrons, and rich birdlife. Upon arrival in Paro, check in at the hotel.

Later, visit Ta Dzong (National Museum), showcasing an exceptional collection of Bhutanese art, artifacts, and religious relics.

Continue to Rinpung Dzong, an imposing fortress serving as Paro’s administrative and judicial center. The evening is free to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Proceed to the base point for the hike to the iconic Taktshang Monastery, dramatically perched on a sheer cliff above the Paro Valley.

Built around Guru Rinpoche’s meditation cave, this sacred site is one of Bhutan’s most revered landmarks and offers a deeply spiritual experience.

If time permits, visit the historic ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, built to commemorate Bhutanese victories, and admire views of Mount Jhomolhari on clear days. Continue to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan.
