Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Paro Airport and proceed to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Set amidst a pristine Himalayan valley, Thimphu uniquely blends tradition with modern Bhutanese life.
Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or enjoy a leisurely walk around the city streets and local surroundings.
Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Explore the cultural and spiritual highlights of Thimphu. Visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma), offering commanding views over the Thimphu Valley and housing one of the largest Buddha statues in the world.
Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, built in memory of Bhutan’s Third King, followed by a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum, which showcases traditional Bhutanese lifestyle and architecture.
Later, enjoy panoramic views from Sangaygang View Point, visit the Takin Preserve Centre, home to Bhutan’s national animal, and explore Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most revered temples in the city.
Conclude the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government and central monastic body.
Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Discover Bhutan’s artistic and cultural traditions. Visit the Government Post Office to create personalized stamps, followed by the Stamp Museum.
Explore the Centenary Farmers’ Market (subject to operating days), a lively hub showcasing local produce and daily life.
Continue to the Royal Textile Academy, where traditional Bhutanese weaving techniques and rare textile collections are preserved. Visit Drupthob Lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan, followed by the Institute for Zorig Chusum, dedicated to Bhutan’s thirteen traditional arts and crafts.
Later, explore the Institute of Traditional Medicine, where age-old healing practices are still followed.
Conclude the day with a visit to the Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory, observing the traditional method of paper-making using natural tree bark.
Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Proceed on a scenic excursion to the beautiful Punakha Valley, crossing the picturesque Dochu La Pass, adorned with 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens and colorful prayer flags. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges along the way.
In Punakha, take a gentle walk to Chhimi Lhakhang, popularly known as the Temple of Fertility, founded by the legendary Lama Drukpa Kuenley.
Continue to the magnificent Punakha Dzong, also known as the Palace of Great Happiness, which once served as the seat of Bhutan’s government and remains the winter residence of the central monastic body.
If feasible, visit the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan. Return to Thimphu in the evening.

Proceed to the scenic Paro Valley. En route, visit Tamchog Lhakhang, a historic temple founded by Thangthong Gyalpo, the legendary iron bridge builder, accessed by a traditional bridge. On arrival in Paro, check in at the hotel.
Later, explore Ta Dzong, the National Museum of Bhutan, housing a remarkable collection of religious artifacts, art, and antiques.
Continue to Rinpung Dzong, an imposing fortress that serves as the administrative and judicial centre of Paro. In the evening, stroll through Paro town and enjoy the serene valley ambiance.

Visit the iconic Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), dramatically perched on a sheer cliff overlooking the Paro Valley. Built around Guru Rinpoche’s meditation cave, this sacred site is one of Bhutan’s most revered landmarks and offers a deeply spiritual experience.
If feasible, explore the historic ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, preserved as a heritage site and offering magnificent views of Mount Jhomolhari on clear days.
On the return, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, among the oldest and most sacred Buddhist temples in Bhutan.
