Detailed Itinerary
Arrive in Paro and proceed to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, set amidst a scenic Himalayan valley. Upon arrival, settle in and enjoy some time to relax and refresh.
Later, visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Dordenma), one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks, offering sweeping views of the Thimphu Valley. The colossal statue houses thousands of smaller Buddha images, symbolising peace and prosperity.
Continue to the National Memorial Chorten, a revered monument built in memory of the Third King of Bhutan and an important centre of daily spiritual life.
In the evening, visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s national government and central monastic body, known for its striking architecture and historical significance.

Depart Thimphu towards the fertile Punakha–Wangdue valley, passing through scenic mountain landscapes. En route, stop at Dochula Pass, adorned with the 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges and surrounded by fluttering prayer flags.
On arrival, explore the majestic Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful fortresses, located at the confluence of two rivers. Historically significant, it served as the seat of government and remains the winter residence of the Chief Abbot.
Later, enjoy a gentle walk to Chhimi Lhakhang, famously known as the Temple of Fertility, associated with the legendary Lama Drukpa Kunley.
The evening is free to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Option 1 – Gangtey & Phobjikha:
Journey into the stunning Gangtey Valley, home to the ancient Gangtey Goemba, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan.
Continue to the expansive Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley known for its pristine beauty and as the seasonal habitat of the endangered black-necked cranes. Enjoy time to explore the valley and its tranquil landscapes before returning to Punakha.
Option 2 – Punakha Valley:
Spend the day exploring Punakha at a relaxed pace. Visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a hilltop shrine offering panoramic views of the valley. Continue to the iconic Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan, followed by a visit to the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, perched on a ridge overlooking Punakha and Wangdue valleys.

Travel towards Paro through scenic countryside and mountain passes. En route, visit the Royal Botanical Park at Lamperi, renowned for its rich flora, rhododendron species, and diverse birdlife.
On arrival in Paro, check in and enjoy leisure time to relax or explore the valley surroundings.

Explore the cultural treasures of Paro Valley. Visit Ta Dzong, originally built as a watchtower and now Bhutan’s National Museum, housing an exceptional collection of Bhutanese art, artefacts, and religious relics.
Continue to Rinpung Dzong, a magnificent fortress-monastery that serves as the administrative and monastic centre of Paro District.
Later, visit Drukgyel Dzong, built to commemorate Bhutan’s historic victory over Tibetan invasions and preserved today as a heritage ruin. On clear days, enjoy views of the sacred Mount Jhomolhari.
Conclude the day with a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, deeply connected to the introduction of Buddhism in the region.

Visit the legendary Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), dramatically perched on a cliffside above the Paro Valley.
The monastery is associated with Guru Rinpoche, who is believed to have meditated here after arriving on the back of a tigress.
The experience of reaching this sacred site is deeply spiritual and visually unforgettable.
Later, visit nearby heritage sites around Paro Valley before returning for rest.

Proceed to Chele La Pass, the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, offering spectacular views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including Mount Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake. The pass is adorned with colourful prayer flags and surrounded by pristine alpine forests.
On the return journey, visit Kila Goemba, a peaceful nunnery complex set against dramatic rocky cliffs, providing a serene atmosphere for reflection.
